Jewel Coffee No. 9

INTERIOR       EXTERIOR      OBJECTS

The design for this branch of Jewel Coffee is inspired by how various tasting notes and the illusion of flavour can be derived from beans of different origins through the way they are roasted and brewed. The idea of illusion and layered flavours is interpreted into a calm but uplifting composition of pale pink, light wood and copper, juxtaposed with a bold stroke of black-stained wood and the texture of the black and white wall tiles. The lines and blocks of materials are reflected in a row of angled strips of mirror to give the space a sense of layering and to create an awareness of the activities and movement at the seating area. At the entrance, a custom op-art mosaic pattern and the long coffee counter draws the attention of the passers-by along the street, into the calming nook within.
