Palm Ave Float Club
Palm Ave Float Club is a floatation therapy centre located in an old industrial building with a small triangular floor plate. In conjunction with the addition of new treatment rooms, the brief was to create a new common space to serve as both the starting point (as a reception) and the ending point (as a relaxation space) of the whole floatation experience. The whole vibe of the space is intended to be a calm and tranquil, with a minimal palette of wood grains, sisal, white and cement. With very little ornamentation, the surroundings and the original architectural elements of the buildings like the windows are played up, with the interior flooded with daylight during the day. Sharp corners within the triangular space are rounded off to soften the space. Small wooden units, designed with a wave motif, cradle the window ledge to hold books and objects to be enjoyed immediately or for purchase. The same curved motif are applied to the other carpentry fittings being inserted into the space. A reception counter with a terrazzo inset is placed among plants and also serves as a tea counter. Visitors are encouraged to stay as long as they like.
