JS Apartment

INTERIOR       EXTERIOR      OBJECTS

The brief for this apartment was to create an open and airy living space for a young couple with a spare room to be converted into a children’s room in the future. The main design strategy for the space was to create a sense of visual fluidity and openness by replacing some of the walls with operable glass panels. This also allows daylight to flood into the interior. The three existing bedrooms were reconfigured into two bedrooms, the master bedroom with a wardrobe area, and a more spacious spare room. The material palette is a composition of soft pastels, blocks of blue, grey and light wood grains, applied to different surfaces to lead the eye through the space. The spare and clean surfaces are accented with the patterns, textures and shapes to add visual interest, like the square tiles in the bathrooms, speckled countertop in the kitchen, the pegboard cabinet and the custom metal gate.
