Benjamin Barker Takashimaya
The Benjamin Barker store at Takashimaya is designed to be a fictional hotel lobby where customers can hang out and discover art, furniture and objects among the clothing and accessories on display. Clean geometric lines, rounded shapes and exuberant hues inspired by mid-century modernist art and architecture fill the space. A deep red island counter organizes the shop space into two main sections. The front section is a living-room-like sitting area, filled with plants and objects, where customers are encouraged to linger and to explore. Further into the store, the space is dedicated to homeware and bedlinen. Fitting rooms are situated towards the back of the store, as a series of “hotel rooms” along an intimate corridor. The flow of the store is designed to be non-linear, allowing customers to craft their own journey through the store. A variety of display surfaces and spaces are created in different parts of the store to provide a multitude of options for visual merchandising, allowing store displays to be constantly refreshed, creating a new and exciting experience for the customer every time he/she visits.
